What is a Sound Bath? The Benefits of Sound Healing

What is a Sound Bath?

A Sound Bath is a form of therapy where sound waves and vibrational frequencies are used to access deep states of relaxation and meditation. Using Sympathetic Resonance, a phenomenon that causes physical changes within matter and living organisms through the process of Entrainment ~ we can consciously harness the healing frequencies and vibrations of sound healing instruments to bring our body's, energy and vibrational field back into a state of harmony and coherence. It's the ultimate energetic tune-up - quite literally!

In a sound bath we are intentionally using sympathetic resonance in a therapeutic context to cause a harmonising effect on our bodies, brains and nervous systems on a deep cellular level. ​

A deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that consciously harnesses the power of sound to invite a therapeutic and nourishing 'tune-up' to nurture your body, mind, soul.

A space for honouring ones-self and the divine body of consciousness to bring ourselves back into a state of coherence, harmony and bliss with the universal cosmic flow and harmonic balance with our own natural frequencies and rhythms.

Instruments are carefully selected for their tone, resonance, and frequencies as well as the mood or state they make evoke for listeners. Practitioners may work with instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, tuning forks, and even the vibrations of the human voice – In fact, anything that can be used as an instrument to create healing sounds can essentially be used as a tool to heal and transform our mental and physical state throughout the body. ​

As Sound Healers & Therapists we can intentionally harness and utilise the essences of particular resonances and frequencies of sounds and vibrations to affect healing and transformation within our bodies in a therapeutic process – including physical cellular changes – and to our mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies as well.

In the ASHA Sound Therapy Practitioner Training Course we dive deeper into the history, science and practical applications of Sound Healing in shamanistic, therapeutic and even medical contexts - In this training course you will learn about this incredibly elaborate and intricate system/framework of energy pathways, frequencies, brain waves states, the nervous system, electro-magnetic field and beyond that exists,

that we can begin to perceive and map as a kind of an ‘architecture’ of reality and the universe from which to study the nature of reality and wellbeing from this holistic perspective.

In a Sound Bath we are giving listeners access to these expanded states of consciousness and deep states of relaxation for healing and revitalising.

A Sound bath is usually done in a passive form of delivery where participants are guided to sit or lie down, relax in a comfortable position and simply allow the sound to bathe them in the healing vibrations of the music and sounds as they breathe and relax into the experience. These sessions or treatments are usually conducted with a sense of ceremony or ritual – where the intentions and energetics of the space, atmosphere and experience have been finely curated and cultivated to elicit this type of powerful transcendental energetic experience for participants - We explore ritual and ceremonial facilitation throughout Module 3 of the ASHA Sound Therapy Practitioner Training course.

There are all kinds of different creative ways that we can think about how we want to deliver sound baths and healing experiences for individuals and groups – and the beauty is that we get to be creative and bring that little bit of essence of magic in ourselves that we each bring as unique healers, therapists and beings with our own sense of self and vibrational field.
